Here we go! They took Darren down to surgery around 2:15, and they finally took him into the surgical room at 5:05pm.
There is a chance his small (2-5mm) piece of brain will be donated for research.
We celebrated Valentines Day a bit early
Darren’s hospital girlfriend hung out with us for awhile
We follow the surgeon on Twitter and so we left a message for him on Darren’s forehead.
Friday is a go.
I need to stop eating after midnight, but the surgery isn’t till late in the day. I’m going to be hungry…
About 5:00 this morning I had another seizure! Friday is a go!
This morning I had a seizure I need!! Woo Hoo!
Talked to my doctor & surgeon later in the day and was told… FRIDAY! They told me after the seizure that the surgery will be on Friday or Thursday. Seizure was successful as far as getting information and location from where it came from.
The Hippocampus of my brain is where this one is located at.
Still would like to get more seizures before surgery, so I’m completely off my Depakote ER as of tonight.
It’s Monday and it is DAY 12 of my being at the KU Hospital. Ugh.
Doctor came to me today and said the surgeon is not going to be around next week, so I need to have seizures within the next 24 to 48 hours. I talked with him and we agreed that getting off the Depakote ER is what I need to do. The reason I haven’t been taken off that one is because it controls my bipolar along with the seizures. Getting off Depakote ER after my previous surgery in November to start seizures might have caused some of my problems. Everything is back together and in full understanding with my head, as far as what and how the problems happened.
Have to wait and see what happens. Hopefully something soon.
Just had my evening nurse come by and tell me that I have to stay up till 3:00. I was just planning to stay up most of the night with this snow storm coming tomorrow.
