Incognito… Book.

So, I watched The Brain on PBS and now own it on DVD. So next, I saw this book called Incognito: The Secret Lives of the Brain written by the same guy that did show….. David Eagleman.

Good Book! Only thing… It’s pretty much the same as the show I just watched. Quite a few things not mentioned in the TV show, but are talked about in the book in FULL detail. Other than that, it’s a good book.

Surgeon Appointment

I had an appointment to see my Brain Surgeon at the hospital today.

I asked another Doctor who came to check on me…

“So, is my Brain Surgeon busy doing someone else’s brain today, and this is the reason I am unable to see him at this time?”

“No, the Neurosurgeon is in China right now for a conference where he is speaking.”

WHAT? My Brain Surgeon would RATHER go to China, and speak to other people who (probably) don’t understand what he is saying, rather than meet with his success?

Okay…. So, at the end of the meeting that I was having today with a different Doctor, I was told that I had no reason to come back and “try” to see the surgeon again for anymore years. I was informed that the SURGEON’S job is ALL DONE and it all looks good.

I’m sure they meant.. DON’T try to come and see him again!

But I think that I WILL try.

All BRAIN SURGEONS just need to be visited on a regular basis, right? They want to observe the good jobs that they completed successfully? RIGHT?

I went ahead and set up another appointment for late next year, even though they said that I do not need to come back at all. But, then again, don’t you think I should go ahead and KEEP TRYING until I see him? RIGHT?

Is he going to stay around the office just to see me?  ….a year from now?

Mmmmm…. maybe. I’ll find out then…

The Brain (DVD)

I’m just tired to find out that I was unsuccessful at recording anymore of this show! Now I have them all on DVD.

How did I get this DVD delivered to me from the a person driving a Postal Delivery Vehicle on a SUNDAY? What is this world coming to? The postal system on a SUNDAY? (Somebody up there at the postoffice just really enjoys me…?) 😉

Well, unfortunately, it was alone at my front door, and nothing else in my mailbox. Oh, well…

Anyway, this is what I wanted to be successful at watching. I can see every episode. Maybe I’ll let other people borrow it too? Maybe…

Ahh…. THE BRAIN.

This is the one I have been commenting about these past few weeks, and now have felt I missed the list of SIX episodes. I only watched a couple on PBS, and I thought I would see the rest on there too. Uh, no. My hi-tech television machine is saying it’s not showing anymore episodes.

If I watch these, I will “learn allot” or “start crying” as I have with the previous episodes seen before. Just as I have in the episodes I have commented about in previous entries.

Just finished the first one on these DVDs… Yep, that was the first one I talked about seeing in PBS.

NEXT!

Watching “The Brain” again…

This week on PBS, I’m still watching The Brain show.

Right away, I have to confess. I was watching one of the first explanations in the show and crying my eyes out. This 10 year old girl needed to have brain surgery. Surgery that removed her ENTIRE left half portion of her brain. How is she? Her brain has done an excellent job (as mine) to re-program itself to the other side. Still could walk (with a limp) and a right arm that looked to be a bit better than mine, since she was shooting arrows real good. 😉

The next part of the show was the “brain reprogramming itself into different areas”. Uh, well… I know ALL about that one. Been there, done that one. The surgery of having the damaged portion of my brain removed, causing those areas to “reprogram” into new areas.

Ah… That SHOW has a BOOK!

I’ve learned the show that I have been watching on PBS (The Brain with David Eagleman) has a book. I got this book for my Kindle (who would have guessed that one?) and finished the first chapter so far. These chapters are all the same as what is shown per episode. Ah…

I have read (cough…  listened to) the first chapter today. Pretty much word-for-word the same as the first episode on TV. Excellent stuff. Talks about…. well… now you’re just wanting me to remember something with MY brain? It was a very good show. I’ll read more tomorrow.

The show is going to be on for a few more weeks, I assume, to cover the few chapters left. I’m excited to read about what this show/book has to say about a human’s brain. It also compares a human’s brain with a animal’s brain. I mean, how an animal is set to grow up to be an “adult” allot faster than a human.
